It is with immeasurable sadness that we, Frances, Ed, and Charlie, announce the passing of our sister, Marchel Brennan, on December 8, 2019 at the Houston Hospice. Marchel was born in Houston, Texas on July 3, 1953, the last of four children of Ed and Elsie Brennan who both preceded her in passing. After high school, she attended Blinn College in Brenham, Texas and then Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas where she completed both her bachelor and master’s degrees in education. Marchel left her mark on many young students while teaching special education in the Aldine Independent School District at Raymond Grace Elementary school for 34 years. She enjoyed her years of teaching and made many good friends. Besides being an impactful teacher, Marchel was also an outstanding daughter. She helped care for her daddy, and when he passed away over 25 years ago she promised to take care of her mother which she did until May of this year and did this while also battling cancer. Marchel will be missed by her siblings, her last two surviving aunts, Aunt Ella and Aunt Earlene, her cousins, extended family members and many dear friends who have all played an important role in her life. In addition, her niece, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephew are all blessed to have had such an awesome aunt for she always made birthdays, holidays and family gatherings more fun and meaningful with her many crafty ideas and gifts. She was a wonderful Godmother to several family members and friends, and an avid animal lover with special love of her dogs, Missy and Kinky, and her current pet, her cat Blue. The family would like to thank all the care givers that have provided support for Marchel during her battle with cancer, and a special thanks to her primary care doctor, Dr. Gandhi, and to Dr. Charles F. Levenback, M.D. at MD Anderson. And a special loving thanks to Stella Garza, who was a caregiver and good friend of our mother and Marchel for over 11 years.
Visitation and service times can be found at Heights Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 3606 Beauchamp St., Houston, TX 77009.
