Our beloved mother Manuela C. Perez, having fought a long battle against the ravages of Parkinson’s, was called by our heavenly father on Thursday, July 3 at the age of 88. The daughter of migrant workers, she was born in Crownsville, Ark. On Nov. 7, 1925. On Dec. 10, 1944, she married our father, Pablo Perez, in New Braunfles, TX. He predeceased her in March, 1992.They made their home in Houston and went to have a family of seven. Our mother was a devoted catholic and was a long time member of St. Stephen’s catholic Church. She was a member of the Guadalupanas and altar society. A resident of Lexington Place for the past 13 years, she took part on the field trips, played bingo, became prom queen, and even won a dominoes tournament. Until this past year, she prided herself in dressing up everyday, putting on her make up and jewelry, with the assistance of her nurses. At this time, our family wishes to thank the entire staff of Lexington Place for the great care our mother received during her residence there. We wish to give a special and grateful thank you to Naomi Reese. Our mother is survived by 3 daughters and 4 sons, Paula Carlin, Lorenzo Perez (Bonnie), Ernie Valle (Adrian), Johnny Perez (Stormy), Angie Richardson (Carl), Reynaldo Perez (Theri) and Alex Perez (Susie). Having been predeceased by three grandchildren, she is survived by 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren, 1 sister, Mary Paiz and Gracie Trejo, and 1 step brother, Joe Campos, and her stepmother, Elisa Campos. We would like to thank our sister Ernie Valle and her family for the many years they devoted to the care of our mother. “We will never be able to thank you enough, sister!”
