Manuela "Nellie" Ochoa Gutierrez

Manuela "Nellie" Gutierrez, passed away on September 8, 2022 at the age of 90 after a short battle with cancer. Nellie was born in Sanderson, Texas on July 9, 1932 to the late Eduviyes and Lucinda Ochoa. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Mario Muñoz and sisters, Alicia Chavez and Lucy Martinez and her brother Daniel Ochoa.

She is survived by four sons, George (Lina) Muñoz, Richard (Dee) Muñoz, Epimenio Muñoz and Oscar (Janice) Muñoz; grandchildren, Christopher, Monika, Richard and Rochelle; Carlos and Jeret; Steve (Jennifer), Erika, Angela, Anthony and Gabriel; Jennifer and Michael; and great grandchildren, Maia, Allie, Charlie, Eddie, Nathan, Greyson, Margaux, Tucker and Henry.

Besides her children, Nellie is survived by her sisters Hope Andrade and Bivi Casillas, and cousin Marina Arocha, who was more like a sister and running buddy, along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Nellie was “Nana” to many children in her lifetime but she had a special place in her heart for Katelyn, Mackenzie, Ryan, Dylan, Rachel and Erol. Also, the family wishes to send a special thank you to Cheryl Dennis for her loving care, compassion, support and guidance to all of us during this time.

To honor Nellie’s memory, there will be a graveside service on Friday, September 30, 2022 at 1pm, Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Road, Houston, Texas 77077. There will be a Celebration of Life immediately after at George and Lina’s house. We invite anyone who knew her to attend and remember her wonderful life.

Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.
