Mae Nell Powell

Mae Nell Powell was born November 29, 1937, to late Aaron Timmons and Elrina Hunt. Mae Nell departed her life on April 3, 2025. She married Melvin Porter and to this union a son was born. She later meets Nell Powell in Clarksville, TX. They married on March 23, 1959, to this union (3) boys and (1) girl was born. She resided in Acres Home for over 60 years. She was a beloved beautician for over 40 years. She became a Jehovah’s Witness on June 22, 1991, and she faithfully attended Christian meetings where she enjoyed her close relationship with her friends and continued to have a love for Jehovah and Jesus. She loved to make the truth her own by stopping to talk to anyone she could about Jehovah and his son Jesus Christ. If you didn’t want to hear about Jehovah and Jesus Mae Nell was going to witness to you anyway you had no other choice but to listen to her preach. She preached about Jehovah and Jesus all the way up to her passing. She loved get togethers with family and friends where she would dance to zydeco and blues. She was preceded in death by (4) sisters and (4) brothers.

She leaves to cherish her memories (5) children, Percy Porter (Katherine) Houston, TX; Jeffery Powell Sr. (Mary) Lancaster, TX; Wyrine Howard (Willie Sr.) Houston, TX; Karl Lee Powell Houston, TX and Reginald Powell Houston, TX. She leaves (1) brother Calvin Timmons (Caroline) Augusta, Georgia, (2) sisters Eloise McCullough Clarksville, TX, and Bernice Robinson (Bill) Corona California, a beloved special son Edward Powell (Cheryl) Shreveport LA, beloved niece Deborah Alston Houston, TX, and beloved sister-in-law Emma Timmons Clarksville, TX.

(8) grandchildren Marquis Parker, Jeffery Powell Jr. (Melissa), Shame’nica Matthews (Roderick), Willie Howard Jr. (Ashley), Kandance Powell (Ira), Kamariah Smith (Gregory), Cheronica Powell, and Tanesha Jones. A host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A visitation for Mae will be held Friday, April 18, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Paradise Funeral Home, Inc, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 10401 West Montgomery, Houston, TX 77088. The committal will follow services from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM at Paradise Funeral Home & Cemetery North, 10401 W Montgomery Rd, Houston, TX 77088.
