Madelyn was born on the 23rd of August, 1927 in Houston, Texas. Her parents were Herbert Victor Gruss and Marie Elizabeth Reichardt Gruss, both from Harris County, Texas.
Madelyn graduated from John H Reagan High School in 1944. She married her high school sweetheart, James Carlisle Price on August 16, 1947 when he returned from serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. They resided at in the Heights area of Houston until they purchased their forever home in Northwest Houston, Texas.
She was employed at several companies, IBM, Wyatt Industries, and had her own business in catering until she retired in 1980. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church where she served on several committees and volunteered for several occasions, too many to list. Regretfully, her husband, James Price, passed away on November 20, 1991. They were inseparable and a true example of true love. After his death, Madelyn became involved in several travel organizations which was her passion to travel the world. She travelled with great joy.
Madelyn loved and enjoyed her family, especially her children; Tamara Casares and Timothy Price, along with her only sister, Vivian Kasmiroski, 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Madelyn was preceded in death by her father, Herbert Victor Gruss, her mother, Marie Elizabeth Gruss, her husband, James Carlisle Price, along with her sister Vivian Kasmiroski.
She is survived by her son, Timothy W. Price (Kim Price), her daughter, Tamara Casares (Jason Casares), her grandchildren; Lisa Price Graham (Patrick Graham), Justin Casares (Karli Casares), Tammy Casares, Courtney Casares (Michael Watson), and her great-grandchildren; Gage Graham, Wyatt Casares, James Casares, Liam Casares, Elena Watson.
Celebration of life for Ms. Madelyn G. Price will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church (7901 Westview Dr., Houston, TX 7055) at a later date; to be determined. In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
A Visitation for Madelyn will be held Sunday, June 13, 2021 from 12:00 to 4:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A Funeral Service will occur Monday, June 14, 2021 at 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Forest Park Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023.
