Lynn Elizabeth Moody

Lynn Elizabeth Moody was born on the 5th of September 1967, in Morristown, New Jersey, where she lived with her parents until the age of eight. Thereafter, Lynn stayed with her grandparents in Oklahoma until they reached an age unable to care for her.

At the age of 10, she was adopted by her Aunt and Uncle, Ginger and Herman Gotcher, and lived with them in Austin, Texas. Herman Gotcher was Travis County District Attorney and a respected criminal attorney known for the fearless defense of his clients. He also taught criminal Law at the University of Texas. Lynn’s mother, Ginger Gotcher raised prized golden retriever show dogs, consequently, Lynn’s home was always full of these wonderful dogs who she loved and helped care for.

Lynn attended West Lake Hill High School in Austin where she ran track and was a popular cheerleader. Lynn also attended the University of Texas where she met and married Currin Van Eman. They had a son, Houston Van Eman, who tragically was born with Cerebral Palsy. He has grown into an extremely bright, sweet and sensitive young man even with his disabilities. Lynn dearly loved and doted over her son, Houston, every day of her life.

One wonderful day, Lynn met Dan M. Moody, Jr. on a blind date and they became inseparable thereafter. It was truly love at first sight. Lynn and Dan had a fairy tale love and had the most beautiful wedding on the beach in Hawaii, which Lynn considered the most perfect place to become Mrs. Dan M. Moody, Jr.

Lynn always enjoyed traveling all over the world with Dan including Africa and Hawaii, her favorite places.

She had a very strong relationship with God. She wrote to Him in her diaries almost every night and was happier when she did so. She prayed often and was a sincere believer in Christ.

Lynn is preceded in death by her biological parents, grandparents, and her adopted parents.

She is survived by her sweet son Houston Van Eman; loving husband, Dan M. Moody, Jr.; his son, Dan M. Moody III and his wife Kim, and their daughter, Makell. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews within the Moody family; her grandson, Parker McMillan Gonzalez and his father Carlos and wife Tamara Gonzales; the entire Gonzalez family; as well as the Van Eman family, Currin Van Eman, and Stuart and Marlene Van Eman.

Lynn and Dan have always been so very grateful for the caregivers that have loved and cared for Houston over the years, Juana, Yasmina, Arthurrine and Jackie. They are most appreciative of Coach Johnson, a special person and mentor in Houston’s life, an ex-pro football player and a wonderful man.

A memorial service is to be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 24th of June, at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 3471 Westheimer Road in Houston.

Lynn was known by all as a lovely lady, always sweet and kind to everyone and will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
