Ly Thi Le was born on August 2, 1955 in Qui Nhon, Vietnam, where she met and married Cung Thi, the love of her life. Following the Vietnam War, Le and Cung, along with their three young children Huong, Tuong and Sue fled Vietnam for the United Sates during the second wave of refugee immigration in 1978. After arriving in Houston, TX, Le and Cung began working to rebuild their lives and secure a better life for their children. Over the next few years, the couple welcomed two more children, Chris and Jonathan into their family. As her children grew up and began having children of their own, Le became instrumental in the upbringing of her grandchildren.
Second only to her Religion and Family, was Le’s love for cooking. She had extraordinary culinary skills, which made for lots of great memories gathered around the dinner table. Whether it was traditional Vietnamese cuisine (Phở, Bún bò Huế, her signature egg rolls), Texas barbeque, crawfish or most recently her famous Tama-Le’s, there was nothing she couldn’t cook. Le expressed her love for her family and friends through her food.
Le will be forever remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, who changed the lives of those who were blessed to have known her. Her family will remember her as a strong woman, whose love and dedication to the family was unparalleled. There is nothing she wouldn’t do for her family.
We will hold you in our hearts until we hold you in Heaven. We love you!
