Mamaw, as Lurline was known to her family, was born on April 3, 1932 to Robert and Ruby Plemons in McGregor, Texas. Her family moved to Houston when she was three years of age. She graduated from Milby Senior High School and was working as a clerk for Shell Oil Company when she met the love of her life, John Gebauer. They were married for 40 years until John’s passing in 1998.
She was a loving mother who enjoyed going fishing with her family and extended family. She was active in her church and the Knights of Columbus where she developed many friendships. Perhaps most of all, she loved taking care of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Kendal Gebauer, her daughter and husband, Brenda and Tod Cox, 6 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
Lurline’s final services will be on Monday, April 12, 2021 at Forest Park Lawndale in Houston, Texas. Visitation will be in the Family Chapel from 9am to 10:45am followed by a graveside service at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Tunnels to Towers Foundation (t2t.org) in memory of Lurline Gebauer.
