SFC (Sergeant First Class) Luisito N Medina, age 77, of Houston, TX, passed away on September 23rd, surrounded by loved ones. Luis was a dedicated Army veteran who served our country with courage, honor, and unwavering commitment.
Born on June 28th in Manhattan, New York, Luis, dedicated to his country, held five military occupations: keypunch operator, expert infantry, military police, combat medic, and specialist & drill sergeant.
He began his career in 1979 at Bellaire Post Office as a business reply clerk, window clerk, distribution clerk, and registry unit clerk. A graduate of Central Texas College with an A/S in Law Enforcement. He was a military veteran from 1972 to 1995, serving in the Vietnam War, and earning two honorable discharge certificates during his six years of active duty. He later retired from the Army Reserves in June 2007 and the USPS around 2014.
Beyond his military service, Luis was known for his bravery, perseverance, fearless attitude, and relentless ambition. Providing for his family was always a priority. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Maria Medina, his children, (Louisito Jr., Isela, Isabel, Sara, and Daniel), and beloved grandchildren, as well as the friends, fellow service members, and loved ones whose lives he touched.
Luis was a pillar of strength to all who knew him, demonstrating the same bravery and dedication in everyday life that he showed in service to our country. He took pride in his yard, and found great joy in home improvement projects, repairing vehicles, and watching action films. He always cherished time spent with family and friends.
Luis was a fine leader who obtained the respect of his peers and superiors both in the military and the postal services through his strong work ethic. Mr. Medina, Sergeant First Class, had a “take charge attitude” with a strong commitment to his fitness regimen.
We will never forget Luis’s sacrifices and service to our nation, and he will forever remain in our hearts as a true hero.
A funeral service will be held on October 7th at Funeraria Del Angel, 5100 North Fwy Houston, TX, 77022, followed by military honors at VA Houston National Cemetery.
May Luisto Medina rest in eternal peace, and may his legacy of courage and love inspire us always.
