Luis graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and received and Associates Degree from Lamar Junior College, in Port Arthur. Luis retired from L.K. Industries, Houston, Texas.
He was a member of St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church, Houston, Texas, a wedding photographer for many years, a member of Knights of Columbus, a volunteer coach at Cossaboom YMCA, baseball umpire in Houston and Pasadena, Texas. He coached his sons and grandsons Kyle and Evan, involved with the Boy Scouts, helping grandsons Kyle and Evan become Eagle scouts. Luis was also a substitute teacher for Pasadena Independent School District for two years, he proudly served on two grand juries in Houston and attended the Pasadena Community Police Academy. Luis served in the United States Army, Fort Knox, Kentucky and New Jersey. The song "I'm Proud to be an American", could have been written about Luis. He still has his army I.D. in his wallet and if given the chance, would show it to anybody and everybody.
after retirement, his passion was wood working in his man cave, giving away more than 200 crosses and phone holders to friends and relatives. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Texans and the Oilers. He and Naomi loved to travel. His number one passion was spending time with his grandchildren, who brought him such love and joy.
He is survived by his loving wife, Naomi Ybarra; his sons Jason Ybarra and Luis Ybarra III (Aurora), daughter-in-law Teri Ybarra; grandchildren, Kyle, Even, Rocco and Ava Ybarra; sister Beatrice Scarborough and numerous nieces and nephews.
Luis was preceded in death by his parents, Luis and Maria Ybarra; sisters Simona Rosas, Petra Aguilar, Mary ellen Ybarra, Dolores Menard Juanita Teran, Jesusita Garcia and Ana Babineaux.
