Luis Ponce, 90, born in Houston, Texas October 11, 1929 entered into Eternal Life on Holy Saturday, April 11, 2020. He is preceded in death by his wife Janie H. Ponce; son Luis Jorge Ponce; parents Isabel and Guadalupe L. Ponce; brothers Juan R., Andres, and Lupe Ponce.
He retired from Fleming Foods after 36 years of service and was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #7230 and Pan American Golf Association. Known as "Hoss" to family and friends, Dad passions were BBQing, playing golf, cooking, going to Coushatta, and tending to his yard. He also enjoyed going to the Astros games when he could and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He greeted everyone he met with a smile and would call ‘Buddy’ to his friends. He loved life to the fullest especially with his family.
Survived by his loving daughters: Alice M. Ward and husband Scott; Lourdes P. Ochoa and husband Paul Jr. and Adriana Isabel Ponce. Grandchildren: Mariana Grace Ochoa; Paul Luis Ochoa; and Jacquelyn J. Ward, sisters Apolonia Ponce and Josefina Cabrera and his faithful companion pet, Maggie. He will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and friends.
A special thank you to the Hinojosa family who held a special place in his heart and to Dr. Ronnie Sheena for the compassionate care he provided for Dad.
We love you and will miss you Dad, Papa, Sir, Suegro, and Pa !!!
