Luis G. Leon passed away Monday, September 20, 2021, at the age of 83. He passed away at home with his family by his side. Luis was born February 23, 1938 in Houston, Texas to Herculano and Olivia DeLeon.
He was a loving father to Rosemary R. Lozano, Rosario “Piggy” Razo, Mary Elizabeth Resendez (husband Joe), John Daniel Leon and Rosanna Leon. Luis is preceded in death by his parents Herculano and Olivia DeLeon, his wife of 41 years Lupe Leon, his son Rene T. Razo, and brother Julian Leon and sister Mary Lou Perez. He is survived by one brother Andrew DeLeon (wife Irene) and sisters Flora Aguilar (husband Frank) and Velma Gomez. Luis had 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren and many other family and friends who loved him dearly.
Luis served in the Marines from April 24, 1957 through April 23, 1963 and was an Associate Knight of Columbus to Council 803 that began October 23, 2004. Luis worked at Katy/Union Pacific Railroad for 32 years before he retired in February 2000. In his younger years Luis had an excellent eye for good talented baseball players. He coached many baseball teams and was the president of the Settegast baseball league. He loved to socialize, play golf, fish, go camping, vacationing and making an abundance of new friends everywhere he went. Visitation will be at Pat H. Foley & Company 1200 W 34th Houston, Texas on Tuesday September 28th from 5PM thru 8PM. Rosary will begin at 7PM given by Irma Henderson.
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 29th at 11AM with The Gallitos Mariachis.
