Lucy celebrated her 100th birthday on October 31, 2021 with her family that she loved and cherished. She had hoped to have celebrated her birthday with her entire family of nieces and nephews and her many friends but was unable to do so because of Covid. Her favorite time was celebrating holidays and birthdays with her family. She loved to cook for her family; she nourished us all with her food and motherly guidance. She loved to read, she enjoyed bowling, she loved to garden. She loved to travel and visited faraway places across the US, Canada, and Europe. Lucy was bilingual, French being her first language and learning English at the age of 6 in school. She was proud of her French-Acadian heritage and still spoke French with pride. Maman, vous êtes notre mère extraordinaire. On vous aime beaucoup et nous vous manquerons pour toujours.
A second visitation will be held at Duhon Funeral Home, 900 East Texas Avenue, Rayne, Louisiana, and a funeral Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Rayne, Louisiana. Arrangements are pending.
