Lucio Hernandez Jr., passed away peacefully on February 5, 2018 at home. Lucio,78, was born in Houston, TX to Lucio and Conception Hernandez. He was one of 15 children. Lucio was passionate about his family, his work ethic, his many hobbies and the great outdoors.
Lucio and his wife Frances proudly and lovingly celebrated 58 years of marriage. Lucio is survived by his wife Frances Gongora Hernandez, his five children and their spouses, as follows: Ralph and Debbie Sicinski, Anthony and Teresa Hernandez, Richard Hernandez, Frank Hernandez, and Forrest and Valerie Daigle. Lucio and Frances are the grandparents to 11 grandchildren and 9 great- great grandchildren.
Lucio was a hard worker from an early age. He knew the true meaning of perseverance there was never an adversity that he could not overcome. He was a skilled welder and later used his knowledge of welding to become a Quality Control Inspector. He was a supervisor of many welding shops, a teacher and he continuously took courses to help further his career. His work ethic surpassed all others, he believed in hard work, honesty and loyalty.
Lucio learned the art of gardening from his mother, if he planted something it grew. He loved being outside with his hands in the dirt. He grew every type of tree, flower, fruit or vegetable that can be grown in Texas. Lucio was an avid hunter and fisherman. His children grew up with the same passion for the outdoors that he had. He taught them all how to hunt and fish. Deer season was an extra special time of year for him. He loved being in his deer blind on cold winter mornings. He also loved hunting with his bows and crossbow. Later in life Lucio took up scuba diving, he was certified for deep water scuba diving. Lucio was an adventurer his love of the outdoors and his love of history took him and Frances on several memorable excursions. They have traveled all over the world from Alaska to Italy and many places in between. He shared his love of traveling with his children and grandchildren by taking them along with him on many adventures.
Lucio lived his life with a family first mentality. He loved God and was a parishioner at Assumption Catholic Church for over 35 years He never stopped wanting to learn new things or ideas. He was patient, kind and selfless. He will live forever in our hearts and minds.

Earthman Resthaven 13102 North Freeway Houston,TX 77060 from 5pm- 8pm with a Rosary being recited at 7pm. Mass will be held Friday February 9, 2018 at Assumption Catholic Church 901 Rose Lane St. Houston, TX 77037 at 10:00 am. A procession to the burial site will follow after Mass to Earthman Resthaven Cemetery followed by a reception at Assumption Catholic Church on the second floor of the church offices.
