Louis was born in Bradford, PA on August 13, 1920. He was preceded in death by his parents Michael Thomas and Lena Keyser Thomas, 6 siblings and his beloved wife of 67 years, Bette Coward Thomas. He is survived by Sons, Robert Thomas (Patricia), Larry Thomas (Pamela), Daughters, Judy Kasten, Darlene Brennan and Elizabeth Drawdy (Grady). A long life blessed him with many loving Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren.
Louis accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at Park Place Baptist Church in Houston, TX. and lived a life of strong faith. Part of the “Greatest Generation” Louis served in the United States Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater and was among the first to enter Japan upon their surrender. After service to our country and on the recommendation of a friend, Louis moved to the land of opportunity: Houston, Texas.
No stranger to hard work and determination Louis applied his skills and forged a career in the floor covering industry. Lou, as many knew him, was nationally recognized as a true artisan of the craft and a mentor to the next generation of craftsman. He loved his work and was a partner in The Venetian Blind & Floor Covering Co. until retirement at age 70. After retirement he enjoyed spending time at their weekend home in Crystal Beach and loved traveling all over the world with Bette, family and whoever wanted to come along. Lou was a quiet man, well read, keen observer of people, part time philosopher and a walking history book covering his 99 years. He was sharp as a tack until he drew his last breath. Louis loved people and was loved by all who came to know him.
