Louis Henry Meyer Jr., 78, born in Houston, TX on October 5, 1943 went to be with our Lord and Savior on February 25, 2022. He graduated in 1962 from Aldine High School where he participated in athletics and served as Vice President and Treasurer of the F.F.A chapter.
He married Carlene Jennings on November 9, 1961 and worked as a butcher at Rice Food Market until he was accepted into the Houston Police Department on October 5, 1964 rising to the rank of Sergeant. He retired from HPD in 1985 after 20 years and 1 day of service.
Upon retiring from HPD, he was able to devote 100% of his time expanding his tractor service company into Meyer’s Demolishing until retiring in 2008. Since Louis was not a man to sit idle, he started cutting and baling hay on the family farm in Shepherd.
He was a member of Lakewood Church were he participated as a Prayer Partner and Team Leader.
He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Louis H. and Lynette Meyer; his sister Judy Staley; brother Harold Meyer and nephew Curtis Staley.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Carlene Meyer; daughters Pam Worley and husband Brad, Patty Green and husband David; five grandsons Brennen Bates and wife Candace, Bearen Bates and wife Courtney, Baylen Bates and girlfriend Ashlan Jordan, Shane Roberts and wife Morgan, Tanner Roberts and girlfriend Christin Clifton; three granddaughters Lauren Worley and Emilee Worley, Samatha Van Fossen and husband Larry; ten great grandchildren Cadence, Casen and Camden Bates, Stetson Bates, Bentlee, Kenslee, Cooper and Mila Roberts, Melanie Roberts and Avery Van Fossen; sister Carolyn Cassels and husband David; nephews Jimmy, Steven and Paul Schlobohm, Michael Staley and numerous great nieces, nephews and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the HPD burial fund.
A visitation for Louis will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service will occur Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at Brookside Funeral Home.
