Louis George Krippner, known as Jorge or George to his wife, Dad and Pops to his children, Papa to his grandchildren, Granpapa to his great-grandchildren, and Uncle George or Uncle Georgie to his nieces and nephews, went home to rest in peace with our Lord on October 16, 2019 at the age of 89.
Louis George was born in Houston, Texas on August 22, 1930 to Karl Wilhem Fritz Krippner and Luz Marie Lara Krippner. He was raised in the Catholic faith and attended Catholic schools which included All Saints, Blessed Sacrament, and St. Thomas High School where he graduated in 1948. He was recruited by President Harry S. Truman to serve in the Texas National Guard for 21 months serving his duty in Japan and Korea rising to the rank of Sergeant in the Fifth Air Force (5AF). He received the Korean Service Medal for his tour of duty. After his tour, he graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston.. He married his first and only love, his “Chiquita”, Maria Idalia Compean on June 2, 1956 and recently celebrated 63 years of marriage.
Louis George found he had a talent for sales and became a professional sales representative for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, Underwood Olivetti Business Machines, and finally in consumer good and sales for Playtex and Burlington. Louis George acquired a passion for travel through his many road trips to cover his sales territory. He loved road trips, traveling so much that he would often take his wife and children with him so that he could spend more time with them. When he semi-retired he continued to work as a sales manager for Craig’s Department Store and had his last sales job before he retired selling orthopedic shoes.
Louis George had a heart for service. He loved volunteering his time to help fit shoes for children with the Shriners. He always had a smile on his face and a joyful, caring heart and loved helping children in any way! He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church since 1973 and was a 3rd Degree Knight for the Knights of Columbus serving from 1997-2019.
Louis George Krippner is survived by his wife Idalia, his four children, three sons and one daughter, Eric George Krippner, Theresa K. Hall and husband John B. Hall, Karl Joseph Krippner and wife Laura M. Krippner, Curt Louis Krippner and his wife, Anna P. Krippner. He also is survived by his 10 adult grandchildren, Amber Hill, Dustin Hall, Nicole Brown, Sean Hall, Paige Krippner, Jake Krippner, Josh Krippner, Kyndall Krippner, Taylor Krippner, Arianna Konen-Krippner and seven great-grandchildren. He once said at the rehearsal dinner for his grandson’s wedding, “I thank God, all of you are here because of me!”
He is also survived by his only sibling, Martha Krippner Daumas and her immediate and extended family as well as many Krippner cousins in the U.S. and in Germany.
Louis George will be remembered foremost in our hearts as the man who loved and worshiped God and prayed daily to Mother Mary. As a husband he modeled unconditional love in his caregiving for his wife who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2005. He was a loving and devoted husband until the day he died. Idalia, his “Chiquita” was the love of his life. As a father, he was a confidante and best friend who passed on his passion for traveling, playing cards, and watching movies. He taught the importance of optimism in the face of adversity and celebrating life every day. He imparted to his children the value of a good sense of humor and spending quality time with family. His passions will live on through his family as he has passed on so much of his unique personality to all his children, grandchildren, and now great-grandchildren.
Yes, George, when God made you he threw away the mold! You always lived your life to the fullest, you always had a smile on your face, and you always put God first. You are our sunshine, and you have left your mark on our hearts forever. We will always love you forever!
