Mr. Ayo, a native Houstonian, now joins his loving and dear wife, Sally, who predeceased him on the 31st of May 2002, after 58 years of marriage. Louie was a dedicated, caring and loving husband and father, always loyal to his family.
On the 2nd of October 1942, Louie volunteered in the U. S. Army Air Corp, where he served 3 ½ years during World War II. After his discharge in 1946, Louie owned and operated a grocery store near downtown Houston, with his wife, Sally.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart Society of Little York from 1951 – 1958, and served as president from 1957 – 1958.He and his wife were members of St. Anne’s Catholic Church and later became members of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
The family would like to thank the very loving and dedicated care-givers who were so special to him in the later years of his life, Dominga Fajardo, Mercedes Torres, Edith Navarro, and his previous care-giver and friend, Kathy Gelsomino. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, MaryAnne and Bill Annis and Lauretta and Barry Dortch; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Michelle Ayo; six wonderful grandchildren, Tracey Trigg, Valerie Copley and her husband Joby, Christopher Thomas and his wife Brittney, Jennifer Thomas, Anthony and Allison Ayo; a great grandson, Reagan Thomas; his loving and caring sister-in-law, Rosalie T. Fazzino; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock this afternoon until seven o’clock this evening, Tuesday, the 27th of March, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where a recitation of the Holy Rosary is to commence at seven o’clock.
A Mass of Christian Burial is to be offered at half-past ten o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, the 28th of March, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 6800 Buffalo Speedway in Houston.
The Rite of Committal will follow, via an escorted cortege, in the Mausoleum Chapel at Holy Cross Cemetery in Houston.
