Lorraine Fitzgerald Symington, 78, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2010. She was born Lorraine Adelaide Fitzgerald on November 1, 1931 in Yonkers, New York. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Adelaide Fitzgerald, and husband William Allan Symington.
She is survived by her son John Symington and wife Pam of Rockford, Illinois, her son Bill Symington and wife Lou of Houston, Texas, her grandson Michael Symington of Houston, Texas, her sister, Judy Hofberg and husband Art, of Stoney Creek, North Carolina, her nephew Karl Hofberg and wife Jodi of Graham, North Carolina, and her nephew Mark Hofberg and wife Susie of Charlotte, North Carolina. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Helen Bernarducci of Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, her sister-in-law Jessie Panko and husband Steve of Chicago, Illinois, her nephew Bob Bernarducci and wife Mary Ann of Pleasantville, New York, her niece Janet Scully and husband Hugh of Hawthorne, New York, her nephew Douglas Panko and wife Kathy of Minooka, Illinois, and her niece Linda Ringstad and husband Tim Snader of Evanston, Illinois.
Lorraine grew up in Yonkers, New York, attended schools in Yonkers and graduated from Gorton High School. She had a rewarding career at Ciba-Geigy Corporation for over 25 years. After retiring from Ciba-Geigy she moved to Houston to be near her grandson, Michael, and quickly made many new friends.
Visitation will be at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Freeway, Houston, Texas, on Tuesday, May 25, between 5:00 and 8:00 pm. A memorial service will be held at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 15015 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas, on Wednesday, May 26 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, American Lung Association, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
