Born to Inez Gomez and Lorenzo Zamora on August 14th, 1945 in Bishop, Texas, Larry would graduate from Ray High School. He proudly served in the United States Air Force as well as received his HVAC Certification and Professional License and attended Citizen’s Police Academy.
Larry loved to fish, hunt, and watch baseball. He taught his beloved wife of nearly 38 years, Theresa, how to fish and made her his partner when not participating in fishing tournaments. He also made sure every one of his kids got on a boat and fished with him while they were young. Larry shared his love of hunting with friends too: he took you hunting even if you did not want to go, and generously shared his game with anyone who wanted venison, pork, or sausage. Larry also loved coaching his children in softball or baseball and later in life got to watch his grandchildren play as well. The Astros were his second family and anytime they were playing, you could find Larry cheering them on. Larry loved a good church festival and he and Theresa would regularly host the Mexican food tent, supplying hundreds of pounds of marinated fajitas, hand chopped pico de gallo, and fresh tortillas over the years to feed the entire parish. Larry’s briskets were easily the best in town! You could always count on him to run over and help you if your A/C went out or if you needed of a quick vehicle fix. He was handy and helpful, and always had the right tools to help. Larry was a kind, loving, and sensitive person who loved deeply. He made friends who were like family to him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Inez Gomez and Lorenzo Zamora, his brothers Ernest Zamora and Manuel Zamora, his sister Virginia Warrick, his in-laws Beatrice and Rodolfo Estrada, and his son-in-law Terrence Starling. Larry is survived by his loving wife Theresa Zamora, his children Michelle Zamora, David Zamora and wife Angie Fergusson, Sybil Starling, Signae Seiler and husband Matt Seiler, Michael Rodriguez, his grandchildren Ian Crossland, Isabella Starling, Nicholas Starling, August Seiler and Simone Seiler, and his siblings Ida Zamora, Bobby Zamora, Teddy Zamora, Ricky Zamora, Pete Zamora and wife Carmen, Blanca Sanders and husband Gaylon, Rudy Zamora, Johnny Zamora, and many nieces and nephews.
