A long life well lived and full of love for family and God.
Lorene Victoria Nickerson was born on July 6th, 1928, in Keotuk, Oklahoma. She passed peacefully on September 14, 2022, in her home surrounded by many of her family members.
She was 94 years old and lived a long, very full and God-blessed life. Lorene was one of five children born to her parents Charlie and Gracie Moyer of Prague, Oklahoma. She attended school in Prague Oklahoma and then later in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Lorene was preceded in death by her daughter Barbara Bevil Barbato, her daughter-in-law Barbara Nickerson, and two grandchildren, Kristi and Christopher Nickerson. She leaves behind her husband of 59 years (Fred Nickerson), two sons (Pastor Bill Pierce and wife Karen, and Mike Nickerson), and two daughters (Judy Bettencourt and husband Ed, and Mohna Phenix and husband Doug). She also leaves behind ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Lorene met and married the true love of her life Fred Nickerson in 1963. After raising their children, Lorene and Fred spent their leisure time traveling as much as they possibly could. She loved the bus tours they would take traveling to many places in the US and Canada. They also had several motor homes in which they traveled. In her later years Lorene often reminisced about her wonderful traveling adventures from the many trips she and Fred made over the years.
Lorene’s biggest blessing and her legacy in life was her family. She enjoyed participating in many school activities with her children, grandchildren and even her great grandchildren. She was a regular at sno-cone days, sports day, school carnivals, grandparents’ day, little league baseball and many, many other events throughout a lot of years.
Although Lorene’s health began to rapidly decline in April of this year, she always maintained her sense of humor and her wisecracking ways. On a regular basis she made sure Fred had his “orders” for each day which included having the house in tip-top shape in case company came by.
Lorene’s family wishes to acknowledge the wonderful care and services provided by Angie Luu of ICare Hospice and also her caregiver at home, Tosha Scott Bryant.
Rest in peace Lorene…..you have earned it!
As per her wishes, graveside services only will be held on Monday, September 19, 2022, at 10:00 a.m.
