O n April 27, 1950, Winfred and Myrtle Butler welcomed their beautiful baby girl, Lois Marie into the world. Lois was a vivacious and lovely young girl who excelled in school with many achievements. She was chosen as the 11th grade attendant to Ms. Jack Yates in 1967 due to her stunning beauty and academic achievements. She later attended Texas Southern University and was selected Homecoming Queen in her Southmore year. Lois later met and married Omri Meek while attending Texas Southern University. Three children were born to this union, Omri, Omesha, and Christen. Lois confessed her love for Christ at an early age and joined Mt Zion Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. Lois lived out her Christian principles by devoting her life to helping those in need. She was an outstanding cook and her skills in the kitchen matched the best Michelin chefs. She used her skills by preparing meals for those in need and often cooked and delivered dinners to those who lost love ones, experienced temporary financial hardships and the sick and shut in. Lois and Omri were philanthropic. They were blessed by God to have a successful Asphalt business and financially supported Historically Black Colleges and other community charitable organizations. Lois lost her beloved husband Omri Meek on October 16, 2007. She leaves her adult children, Omri, Omesha, and Christen; her sister, Jacqueline Washington; two brothers Robert Jones, Winfred Butler Jr., and a host nieces and nephews and friends to celebrate and cherish her memory.
