Lộc Đỗ, 80 years old, passed away after a courageous battle with lymphoma on Monday, April 9, 2024.
Lộc has been married for 57 years to Nguyệt Thị Nguyễn, and they lived a loving and adventurous life together. Lộc and Nguyệt shared their life with their family and daughter Trang Quỳnh Đỗ Stark, and eventually her husband, Jeffry Stark.
As a young man, Lộc was in the Vietnamese Army where he held the rank of Captain and eventually was promoted to Major before his country was lost to the war. Lộc persevered as a prisoner of war as he survived his time in a concentration camp. Through much planning and the support of his family in Vietnam, Lộc escaped the concentration camp and traveled across the ocean, by boat, to Malaysia with his wife and daughter. They remained in Malaysia as refugees for nine months. After their time as refugees, Lộc brought his wife and daughter to the United States in 1979, and they eventually settled and built a life in Houston, Texas.
Lộc lived a grateful and fulfilling life in Houston surrounded by his family and friends. He spent his days in a job he loved and eventually retired from Varco, after more than 30 years of service. Lộc and Nguyệt spent their retirement years enjoying traveling the world together and sharing and celebrating their culture with their daughter and son-in-law. They loved experiencing the world through cruises and spending their time at home with family and friends. Lộc could easily make those around him smile and his laughter was infectious. His love for his wife and daughter was tremendous.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Nguyệt Thị Nguyễn, daughter Trang Quỳnh Đỗ Stark, son-in-law Jeffry Stark, brothers, sisters, in-laws, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom will forever cherish his memory.
Visitation will be held at the Chapel of Eternal Peace, 2454 S. Dairy Ashford, Houston, TX 77077. Sunday, April 14th from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM Buddhist prayer service is scheduled from 10:00 AM – 12:00PM followed by a time to share stories and memories.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 15th from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM with a Catholic prayer service starting at 11:00 AM followed by a time to share stories and memories.
A cremation service is planned with the family. on Tuesday, April 16TH.
