Lisa was a woman of limitless faith who loved to sing, give generously to others, and to participate in sports and fitness. She invested her time and strength in her Bible, her church, her family and her friends. Her passion for loving others without hesitation, made her quick to take action whenever she saw someone in need. Lisa loved to laugh and never complained about her circumstances, even when faced with life threatening illnesses in 1994 and 2012. She was a strong spiritual leader wherever she lived and worshipped. She was called suddenly and swiftly by the Lord to Heaven where we are confident in the knowledge that she is now at the feet of Jesus.
Lisa grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where she actively attended University Baptist Church. After graduating from Robert E. Lee High School in 1979, she attended Louisiana State University for three years before getting married June 26, 1982 to Kevin Charles Robert. After moving to Houston in 1982, Lisa earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education in 1983 from the University of Houston. Like many energy industry families, Lisa had to frequently relocate and taught science and Bible study for eight years at schools and churches in Texas, Colorado, Oklahoma and Louisiana before accepting her ultimate teaching position as a mother. In 1990, Casey Lynne Robert was born, followed four years later by Kelly Jean Robert. Both girls today are proud Texas A&M University “Aggies”.
Lisa’s focus in life from childhood was to worship and love the Lord our God Almighty; and to serve her family and friends. She had many spiritual gifts, such as teaching, discernment, organization and hospitality. She loved music and could sing countless numbers of hymns from memory. At every church she ever attended, she has led adult and children’s Bible studies, served on committees, played handbells, sang in the choir and served in many other service positions. She sought daily guidance from the Holy Spirit through her study of the Bible and her prayer time, always passing the wisdom she gained on to her family and friends. Her goal was to stay fit, see her girls grow up into young women and to love/support her husband, friends and church. She successfully accomplished her goals.
Lisa is a past member Tallowood Baptist Church, a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church in Katy and today a member of Kingsland Baptist Church, also in Katy. She is a member of the National Charity League in Katy, an active tennis player at Willow Fork Country Club, a mentor in the Katy Independent School District, involved with the Texas A&M Mothers Club and active in numerous other charities. She is preceded in death by her grandparents and her father, Shelby Howell Bartels. In addition to her husband and daughters, she is survived by her mother, Mary Lynn Bartels and step father Chuck Goodwin of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Also in Baton Rouge is her brother Dean Bartels, his wife Michelle and their children Madison and Cameron. Her sister, Holly Bartels, lives in Pensacola, Florida.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 12, 2013, from 6:30 pm till 8:30 pm at Kingsland Baptist Church, 20555 Kingsland Boulevard, Katy, Texas 77450.
