Linda Joyce Lang-Yates peacefully transitioned to be with our Heavenly Father July 13, 2024 at the age of 76. Born February 25, 1948 in Tyler, TX, the second born daughter of Harold Wendell Lang Sr. and Earlean Anderson Lang. Linda leaves behind, one daughter, Kisha A. Yates, and a son, Jabari A. Yates. Linda was preceded in death by her sister Gloria Jennell Jones, brother Harold Wendell Lang Jr., and nephew, Jibri Omari Jones. Linda is survived by her mother, Earlean Mitchell, sister LePaula Lang Jarmon and granddaughter, Aneesa Amadi Harper. Additionally, she is survived by her niece, Matari Jones Gunter (Will), and great nephews Theodore Henry Gunter and Alexander James Gunter in addition to many cousins and other relatives. Linda was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and Jack and Jill of America. Her hobbies included gardening, Pilates, music in various forms and reading. She earned her master’s degree from Our Lady of the Lake University and retired from Alief Independent School District after over 30 years of service as an educator and counselor. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home and Cemetery in Houston, TX. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 19, 2024 in Tyler, TX from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Lloyd James funeral home with internments to follow.
Serving as pallbearers are Ronny Fields, Gerald Davis, MP Davis, Lanchester Bowie, Theodore Gunther and Boston Tilley.
