LINDA DORIS (MOREN) WARREN passed away Saturday morning, November 5, 2022, at the age of 79, just 21 days shy of her 80th birthday. The oldest of three children, Linda was born on November 26, 1942, Thanksgiving Day, in Houston, Texas. Through the years, Linda spoke fondly of her upbringing by hardworking, loving parents. Linda graduated from Smiley High School where she formed many friendships, some of whom remained very dear and close to her through the end. While in high school, Linda worked at the Granada Theater on Jensen Drive. The importance of this job cannot be overstated as it was while working here that she met her one true love, Charles, whom she married on December 16, 1961. Together Linda and Charles had three children whom they raised with traditional family values often instilled at the nightly dinner table with a meal prepared by Linda. Once her children were older, Linda went to work at the family business, Warren Auto, alongside Charles as their office manager where she made many lifelong friends. As much as Linda loved her children, nothing could compete with that of being Nana to her eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. As their Nana, she never turned down a babysitting request and was very active in each of their lives. She made each grandchild feel as though they were her secret favorite. Linda was so looking forward to the upcoming arrival of her third great-grandchild, Casey.
As those who knew her can attest, Linda had a kind and caring heart. She was a generous mother, Nana, and friend. Linda expressed her love for others with her cooking and gifting. Her chocolate cake was famous amongst the family, and she routinely baked it for each family member’s birthday. While raising her children, she participated in the PTA, served yearly as the classroom mother, coached her daughters’ YMCA softball teams, and she helped to co-lead brownie and girl scout meetings. In her retirement years, Linda was active in her church, St. Stephens United Methodist, where she provided baked treats weekly to her Sunday school class and volunteered in the VIPs and The Gathering Place. She was an avid sports fan having held season tickets to the Houston Oilers for many years. She loved cheering on her Astros, and we like to believe she had a little something to do with their winning the World Series the night of her passing. It’s hard to imagine a world without Linda, but her family is so grateful for the time they were blessed to have had her here.
Linda is predeceased by her mother and father, Doris and Oren “Scotty” Moren, brother James “Butch” Moren, and son Charles “Chris” Warren. Linda is survived by her husband of 61 years, Charles Warren; daughters Lisa Schilhab (Randy) and Dana Kirkpatrick (Phillip); daughter-in-law Pam Wellman (Barry); grandchildren Ryan Schilhab (Kathleen), Andrew Kirkpatrick (Brittany), Morgan Caesar (Jonathan), Shelby Swenson (Tucker), Alexander Kirkpatrick (Sydney), Charlie Warren, Ava Kirkpatrick, and Luke Wellman; great-grandchildren Harper Caesar and Parker Schilhab; her sister Barbara Walker (Brian); brother-in-law Travis Warren (Donna); and niece and nephews.
