Liliana “Lilly” Martinez Campbell was delivered to her Lord and Savior on December 17, 2017. She lived life to the fullest, enjoying family, friends, and charity work. Lilly was born on March 19, 1975, to Mr. and Mrs. Alejandro Rene Martinez Sr. in Harlingen, Texas. Although she was the baby in a group of five siblings, she taught us so much about life and will forever be our hero!
Lilly graduated from Harlingen High School in 1993, and attended Lone Star College in Houston, Texas. While working part time, she met her soulmate, Jeff Campbell. On April 20, 1996, before God, family, and friends, they pledged their commitment to one another in the sacrament of marriage at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Harlingen. Lilly worked for Cy-Fair Independent School District. When not working for the school, she gave of herself unselfishly to charity work at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church and Cy-Fair Helping Hands. She spent countless hours coordinating and volunteering at church festivals, auctions, and Lenten Fish Fries. Lilly was open to answer God’s call to help. It was no surprise that her loving husband, Jeff, affectionately would call her “Angel”.
A dear angel she was! Despite the health battles she fought for half her life, she was truly a revered warrior on earth. She tackled every medical procedure and hospitalization with the bravest of countenances that few have ever demonstrated. Lilly lovingly cared for and nourished many of her nieces and nephews, always wanting to share more. She loved the precious children. Being blessed with much, Lilly and Jeff wanted to share their bountiful blessings with a child of their own. On January 11, 2013, they welcomed home their beautiful daughter, August Grace Elizabeth.
Lilly left many friends and family with wonderful memories that will forever guide their journeys and burn in their hearts. Despite her prolonged battle with Lupus, her contagious smile was her common wear. She would light up the room with her presence, always larger than life. She was everyone’s hero and always will be.
She is preceded in death by her father, Alejandro Rene Martinez Sr. and her loving mother in law, Shirley Campbell.
