Lila Marjorie Buck (Marge) came into this world on September 19, 1930. She was born to Lila and Otto Matzat in Ontario, Canada but soon moved to Rochester, NY where she grew up with her older brother, James (who nicknamed her Trixie). After graduating valedictorian of her high school class, Marge attended the Rochester School of Business and began working for the Erb Supply Company in 1949. In 1953, she went through the process of becoming a naturalized citizen of the United States which she always counted as a privilege and blessing. In the mid-50’s she met Frederic Buck (Ted) and they married in 1958 and had three daughters, Barbara, Cheryl, and Joan. The family of five enjoyed life together surrounded by extended family in Henrietta, NY until Marge and Ted moved their family to Houston, Texas in 1980. Marge’s experience of running a business office as well as her intelligence and warm presence soon landed her a job with Exxon where she worked as a secretary eventually moving up to Benefits Specialist until her retirement in 2000. Marge enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, volunteering at church, her weekly Bible Study, and especially time with her daughters, five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Marge faced life and it’s challenges with grace and humor. She was fun and feisty, sweet and self-giving, kind, and caring and was loved by everyone who knew her. She moved to Legacy at Long Meadow in 2019 as dementia was slowing claiming her mind. Even so, her personality shined through to the end…as well as her love of donuts and coffee and pugs! She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother James, and her husband Ted. She is survived by her daughters and spouses, Barbara & Steve Retzloff, Cheryl & David Shafer, Joan & Tim Jenkinson, as well as her five grandchildren and their spouses, John & Rebecca McClintic, Laura & David Donaldson (and great grandchildren, Megan & Dylan), Melanie & Ryan Haymaker, Lynn & Cole Sorota, Brad & Cindy McClintic. Marge, Trixie, Mom, Grandma, GG, will be missed by all. We love you dearly and we will see you again! A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 2:00 pm at Grand Lakes Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers (and absolutely no lilies), donations can be made to Grand Lakes Presbyterian Church (6035 S. Fry Road, Katy, TX 77450).
