Mr. Leroy "Trey" Hopson III

He graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1992. Most of his life, he worked as a mechanic but also worked as a Draftsman before leaving due to health concerns. He continued working as a mechanic and handyman for friends, family, and anyone in need throughout his life.

Leroy was best known for his jovial and good-hearted nature. He was always willing to lend a helping and supportive hand for friends, family, and strangers even on short notice. Leroy was not an idle man. He was often starting a new project in the garage, working on a project vehicle or two and spending time outside tending to his yard. As a good cook, he enjoyed barbequing and was always willing to try new delicacies.

His love of barbequing, particularly with his dad, led them to compete and win some contests together. He loved the outdoors and was on his way to fish or hunt whenever the chance arose. All his life, he has had great love of dogs and enjoyed spending time with his dogs.

He was very close to his family, both those he was related to and those he made his family along his life’s journey. He diligently dedicated himself to reaching out to both friends and family, both near and far on a regular basis. Any time not spent doing projects, was spent with his family.

Leroy passed away on March 22, 2021 in Houston, TX. He leaves behind a great deal of friends and family to celebrate his impactful life.

A viewing and funeral service will be held on March 29, 2021 at the Carl Barnes Funeral Home beginning at 11:30am.
