Leo Travis (L.T.) Moore was born in Dickens, Texas on Wednesday, June 20, 1917 to parents Benjamin and Ida (Wilson) Moore. He passed away in Katy, Texas on Monday, September 29, 2014 at the age of 97.
L.T. was a graduate of Roscoe High School in Texas. On Saturday, August 16, 1941 in Monahans, Texas, Lessie Mae Taylor became his devoted wife. They had a wonderful 70 years together until her death on Sunday, June 19, 2011.
In 1943 as a Second Lieutenant, L.T. was Honorably Discharged after proudly serving his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a self-taught telegrapher, but worked for nearly 40 years as a pipeline dispatcher. He was a longtime resident in the Spring Branch area of Houston, member and Deacon at First Baptist Church Spring Branch.
L.T. is survived by his daughter, Cathy Nell Moore Porter and her husband John. He is also survived by his grandsons, Jake Travis Porter and Cade Lucas Porter. He was preceded in death by his wife Lessie; daughter, Sandra Jayne Moore Teeler; parents, Benjamin and Ida; siblings, Leroy Walter Moore, Beatrice Evelyn Moore Lyon, Daniel Wilson Moore, Chalmers Hardison Moore, Tommie Clinton Moore, Wyatt Blakely Moore, Velbert Carlton Moore and Anita Corrie Moore Wallace.
Family and friends gathered for a visitation at Waltrip Funeral Directors from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1 and where funeral services were held in the chapel at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 2 with Reverend M. Eugene Vickrey officiating. L.T. was privately laid to rest with Lessie at Woodlawn Garden of Memories in Houston.
