Her life did not truly start until she met, fell in love with and married second husband E.B. Taylor, Jr. Together they had one daughter, Erelene. They would spend the next 50+ years making memories in Houston, TX at 1122 Globe St.
Lena was a very giving and loving soul. She always had a story to tell and advice to give. You could count on her to be there for you no matter what and her door was always open to family that needed a safe haven. With unbounded love and compassion, Lena took in and raised Bobbie Helm from infancy as her own daughter. One of Lena’s greatest passions was tending to her flower garden, she held prize in the monkey grass that grew along the sidewalks and the beautiful four o’clock shrubs in her yard. Being a very sociable woman, Lena’s house was always the place to be, there was never a dull moment to be had in her presence.
She was great friends with all her neighbors and was always the go to person if anyone needed a babysitter. Being raised in the time of a recession Lena grew up to know the value of a dollar and was always on the lookout for a great bargain. She loved to go to garage sales as well as frequent the local thrift shops. Mrs. Taylor was very family oriented. Nothing meant more to her in the world than her family. She would spend hours talking to distant relatives over the phone, but most of all she loved spending time with all of her grandchildren. She truly cherished each and every second she got to spend with them and would think of them often.
Her warm, inviting heart and beautiful smile will be greatly missed by everyone who had the honor of knowing her.
