Lena Marie Maddison was born in Houston, Texas on December 14, 1921 to Italian immigrants, Francisco and Antonina Cutaia. She was one of nine children and had a twin brother who passed away when they were 18 months old. Growing up, she loved playing softball with the C.Y.O. and going to dances. She graduated from high school in 1939.
Lena met her future husband,Tommy V. Maddison, at a Christmas party. He was the nephew of her best friend. Tommy, who had just returned from World War II a few days prior, was a decorated paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne. Lena always joked that he was "shell-shocked" when he met her. They were married 6 months later.
After 15 years of marriage, they were blessed with their only child, a daughter. They decided upon the name, Tomalene, a combination of Tommy and Lena.
Once their daughter was in college, they built a home off Trinity Bay so that they could pursue their love of fishing. In 1990, they acquired a new family member when their daughter married Tim Vaughn. In 1998, they became proud grandparents for the first time to grand-daughter Katie. Their grandson, Trace, was born in 2000. They had a happy life by the bay until Tommy passed away in 2002, after 56 years of marriage.
In 2006, Lena moved to Sugar Land to spend the rest of her life living close to Tomalene, Tim, Katie, and Trace.
