Lawrence Michael Malek, age 68, passed away Saturday, May 30, 2015. Born in Houston, Texas, he retired from the Houston Fire Department after 31 years of service. He served his country honorably with the Army as a SPEC 4 in Germany. He truly loved his family and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to all. He also enjoyed travelling, his longhorn cattle, and was an excellent griller of Ribs. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Lena Malek; sister, Agnes Machacek; and father and mother-in-law, Albert and June Zingelmann. Survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Selma Malek; daughters, Sabrina Maddox and husband Marc, and Cynthia Marek; son, Michael Malek; grandchildren, Brennan, Chase, and Ryan Maddox, and Natalie, Caroline, and Travis Marek; brothers, Rudolph Malek, Jr. and wife Margie, Daniel Malek and wife Dianne, James Malek and wife Joan, and David Malek and wife Judy; sisters, Barbara Pellizzari and husband Edo, and Bernadette Pledger; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and a host of friends. Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 5, 2015 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2730 Nelwood Dr., Houston, Texas 77038. Rite of Committal will follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.
