Lauran Ann Ball 72, of Houston, Texas went to her eternal reward on June 29, 2023, after a valiant 6-year battle with Alzheimer’s.
Lauran was born on January 20, 1951, to Livingston and Maudelle Evetts in Houston, TX. She was an active member of the Lindale church of Christ from her “baby” years. One week after she graduated from Jeff Davis High School she married Donald Ball, another of the Lindale youths. They were married for 54 years.
Having lost her own mother at the age of 10, her goal in life was to become a Christian mother and ultimately a grandmother. Her wish was fulfilled when her son, Christopher came into the family in 1972, and then Lacey joined them in 1978. Lauran was so happy when they became Christians and then eventually married other young people in the youth group. Chris married Lori Marshall and they have two sons: Mason, wife Grace, and Chandler. Lacey married Alec King and they have four children: Cade, Sawyer, Asher, and Sadie. The kids, and grandkids all affectionately called her “Gi”. They enjoyed annual trips with her on the Frio River in Leakey, TX.
Lauran excelled as a stay-at-home mom who took her role seriously- serving anywhere she was needed, especially if it helped her children-whether at school, helping with baseball/softball, or as a teacher at the Lindale church of Christ, and later at Hidden Valley church of Christ. Her love for children was further illustrated in her work as a nurse’s aide and a P.E. aide at Gray Elementary… and then later as a nanny for Ben, Savannah, and Vivian.
She was a faithful Christian, working as a supportive wife to Donald as he served as a teacher, Deacon and Elder in the church. She never “retired” as those in the business world retire, because she considered all those kids God had blessed to know her as “her kids”.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Livingston and Maudelle, and her brothers, Sammy and Brad, and brother-in-law Bill Fox.
She is survived by her husband, Donald, her son, Chris, his wife Lori, and sons Mason, and wife Grace, and Chandler; Her daughter Lacey King, and husband Alec and their children Cade, Sawyer, Asher, and Sadie; Her sister, Sandra and husband Glenn, and children. Sammy’s children: Beau and wife Kate and their children, Chad and wife Veronica and their children, Brandi and husband Scott and their children; and Sister-In-Law, Nancy and son Bill and wife Jenny, their children, and daughters Becky, Beth, Brandy.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, July 8, 2023, at the Hidden Valley church of Christ. 9521 Sunnywood, Houston, TX 77038.
The family is requesting that friends and family wear sunny, colorful attire for the memorial service.
