A memorial celebration of life will be 12:30 PM Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Brookside Funeral Home. Many things can be said about Latrece Bell, known to friends and family as a friendly, loving, warm hearted, quiet nature, ambitious woman. Even as a child, she demonstrated strong qualities of self- confidence, determination, inner beauty, with a sparkling smile, and a gentle laughter. She had a great positive attitude growing up into adulthood. She was a beautiful angel with a warm heart and loving spirit. She grew up with her younger sibling, Lora always protecting her. Even with Lora’s mischievous ways, Latrece always tried to guide Lora in making right decisions. Since the age of nine, education was important to her as she led Lora with her studies and projects. As children, they enjoyed each other and they were inseparable. Even though they were not twins, they possessed alike attributes such as dressing alike, playing dolls, and watching their favorite cartoons. One fond memory of Lora and Latrece was when they would comb their grandpa Leo’s hair and each one had a side and they better not touch the other one’s side. Supported and encouraged her sister, she became her talent manager of Belle (Lora’s stage name) and modeling career. Latrece surrounded herself with family members. Her Grandmother Eva enjoyed telling her stories with her and Lora. Her past times were never dull as she also played with close cousins including Grezalda, Brenda, Michelle, Sharon, Joseph, and Jacob. Latrece enjoyed her mom’s cooking and one of her favorite dishes was spaghetti, beef soup, and seafood. Her favorite desserts included a variety of desserts. As a teenager, she was eager to start working which lead to her independent character. Her first job was at Jean West in Greenspoint Mall. One of the first things she purchased was fashionable clothes, shoes, and a white dodge avenger. While attending MacArthur High School, she was an over achiever and genuinely enjoyed learning. She had a creative mind-set, making costume jewelry and drawing. Her past times included attending the Greenspoint, Sharpstown, and Galleria Malls and also enjoyed talking on the phone and listening to music. Her favorite artists were R. Kelley, Beyonce, H-Town, and Jodeci. She started her college years by attending North Harris community College. There she started to establish lasting friendships, one of them was with Carmen Martinez which later on would become her best friend. They met while Jackie Adams a close family friend introduced Lora and Carmen at a modeling event. Latrece was also part of the activities but preferred to be behind the scenes and learned the business side of things. One of the things they did together was being part of Figure 8, a promotional female marketing team. With Latrece, Carmen and several other colleges they promoted different organizations and charity events. Latrece would constantly want Carmen to teach her Spanish over the years and one of her favorite quotes was “todo esta bien” which meant “everything is all right”! Over the Years Latrece and Carmen shared a strong bond and would be inseparable. They traveled together and attended many social events including Latrece’s 1st time attending Mardi Gras in New Orleans, Carmen attending the infamous Kappa Beach party in Galveston. They traveled to Las Vegas together for the 1st time. Carmen recalls “out of the 12 years I knew Latrece our first disagreement was in Las Vegas… I can’t recall what started it but we both pouted and cross our arms like we were 10 years old as we walked down the Vegas strip waiting to see who would apologize 1st, but we walked for a few minutes and then came across a funny ad and we looked at each other and smiled and said ok where are we going to dinner? “One comical instance was when Carmen attended a family event at Latrece’s grandmother house and walked passed her grandmother; she mistakenly thought she was her sister Lora. But above all they shared love no matter what , trust, and where always there for each other. A person they can both count on and with no hesitation they would help each other out. Carmen always looked out for Latrece and encouraged her career and motivated her dreams of becoming the best Realtor in Houston.
