Larry Park Shepherd, age 81, of Cameron, Texas, passed away on Friday, July 16, 2021, surrounded by his family. Larry was born on February 21, 1940, to B. Park and Mary Lee Dean Shepherd in Houston, Texas. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jean Shepherd, sister Joyce Canada and husband, Warren, of Texas City, daughter Cydni Choate and husband, John, of Bayou Vista, son James Shepherd, of Houston, son Brooks Shepherd and wife, Kody, of Friendswood, daughter Erin Shepherd, of Buda, daughter Tina Schmelter and partner Mann Hayes of Cypress, daughter Mary Christian and husband, Greg, of Houston, daughter Elizabeth Higgins and husband, Tyson, of West Columbia and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Larry graduated from Austin High School in 1958 and attended Texas A&M University where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets.
Larry began his professional career with Petrolite Corporation in 1959 as a Mechanical Draftsman, later assuming the position of Assistant to the Owner of Tanco, Inc., then promoted to General Manager. After the acquisition of Tanco, Inc. by the Petrolite Corporation, he began his role as Vice President and Operations Manager. In 1988, Larry founded and co-owned Quality Linings and Fabrication in Houston. Most recently, Larry was enjoying retirement on his ranch in Cameron, Texas. Services will be held at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Fwy., Houston, TX 77079, on Friday, July 23, 2021, at 2:00 pm (visitation at 1:00 pm). Larry will be laid to rest at his beloved ranch on a later date.
