In addition to many nieces and nephews, Larry has many, many friends that he loved, including all of his ‘Cave Family’.
Larry lived in Dayton, Ohio until he was 9 years old, when the family moved to Houston, Texas. Larry went to M.B. Smiley high school and in 1957 married Barbara Follis. They had two children, David and Darren.
In 1967, Larry went to work for the City of Houston. Larry worked as a deputy court clerk and eventually became an assistant to the Chief Judge, and in 1991, Larry was appointed the Director and Chief Clerk for Muncipal Courts by Houston Mayor Bob Lanier.
In 1988 Larry married Vanessa “Ness” Miller and they bought a home in the Spring area, and in 1995 they had their son, Brazos Levi Miller.
Larry retired from the City of Houston in 1996 and became a successful private business owner. In 1997, Larry and Ness bought “Miller’s Cave”, and as the owner of that little ole bar, he met and touched the lives of many, many people.
In October of 2011, Larry and Ness sold Miller’s Cave to their beloved “like a daughter” Tamy Doggett. Larry then became fully retired at home with Ness. Larry will be missed by many and always remembered for his "special" sense of humor. His sons David, Darren and Brazos will always have the integrity and honesty that he instilled in them. His grandchildren Chloe and Dane will always cherish their memories of Papa Miller. The family would like to thank and recognize Dr. Susan Brown, who not only treated Larry for many years, but became a trusted friend.
