La Wanda Hickson Schovajsa, age 73, passed away peacefully after a long struggle with Alztheimer's on May 30, 2010. She was born July 22, 1936 in Houston, TX; was a lifelong resident of the Spring Branch area and graduated from Spring Branch High School, class of 1954.
La Wanda is survived by her husband of 53 years, Edward A. Schovajsa; son Frank and wife, Cindy; J.W. and wife Debra; Lee Allen and wife Lisa. She was blessed with seven grandchildren: Britney, Meghan, Travis, Brooke, Joseph, Jayton and Jaylee. She is also survived by her sister Kathyryn McGinty, her husband, John; brother-in-law, Bennie Schovajsa and his wife Faye; nieces Janice, Beverly and Dee Ann; nephews Andy, Bennie Jr. and numerous friends and neighbors.
Visitation will be in the chapel of Waltrip Funeral Directors on Thursday, June 3, 2010, from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 3:00 p.m., with Rev. M. Eugene Vickery officiating.
Interment will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 4, 2010, at Bila Hora Cemetery, Hallettsville, Texas.
