Kurt Matthew Peterson

Kurt Matthew Peterson, 44, passed away September 21, 2017 in Houston, TX, after a sudden illness. He was born October 12, 1972 in Morris, Illinois to Doris and Mervin Peterson. Kurt was a 1990 graduate of Keokuk High School in Iowa. He then proudly served in the US Marine Corps from 1990 - 1995. He married Abigail Peterson on July 18, 2002 in League City, TX, and they had two children. Kurt had a career as an operations specialist, working most recently for Chevron Phillips, and previously for Air Liquide and Air Products. Kurt had a passion for helping others, football, travel and all things Under Armour. He had an amazing sense of humor and radiated kindness.

Kurt is survived by many family and loyal friends, Abigail Peterson, children, Derek and Lauren Peterson, mother, Doris (Harry) Sturm, sister, Susan (Steve) Abel, brother, Douglas (Peggy) Peterson, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other loving relatives. His father, Mervin Peterson, and grandparents preceded him in death.

His memorial service will be held Friday, October 13, 2017 at 11:00am at the American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038 with a committal service to follow to Houston National Cemetery where military honors will be rendered. A reception will take place after the committal service at American Heritage Funeral Home.
