Kurian Madacheril Joseph, was born on April 30th, 1947 to Kurian and Annamma Madacheril. He was the fourth of six children, having two brothers and three sisters. His family originally lived in Karimkunnam but later moved to Rajapuram (Malabar). Joseph served in the Indian Air force for 10 years. During that time, he met his wife of 49 years, Aleyamma Thottiyil (Uzhavoor) in Bombay, they had a beautiful love marriage. Joseph immigrated to Houston in 1976. He was the first Knananite to move to the greater Houston area, a title he was extremely proud to hold. He spent most of his career at the US Postal Service. After retirement, he started a family business with his two brother in laws which brought him great purpose and fulfillment.
Joseph had two passions in life, photography and gardening. He loved to celebrate life and always had an excuse to host a party. Anyone lucky enough to have known him loved being in his presence because of his loving, easy going, and fun personality.
Joseph passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and children at the age of 76. We are eternally grateful that we were able to care for him these past four years the way he cared for everyone else his entire life. He has now graduated to heaven, and leaves behind his devoted wife Aleyamma Joseph, his son Jason Joseph, his daughter Jayne Thomas, son-in-law Noel Thomas, two granddaughters, Sofia and Sahara Thomas, and his sister, Gracy Vallinayil. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Esthappan Madacheril, Mariakutty Kappilumakkil, Aleyamma MK, and Mathew Madacheril.
Our family is full of gratitude for the loving support we have received in recent days. Our faith and the support of community has sustained us during this difficult season.
“Everything ends. Everything dies. But if you step back, if you look at the whole picture, if you allow yourself the gift of a really wide perspective, you’ll see that the end is not sad, it’s just the start of the next incredibly beautifully thing.”
