Her family moved often during her young years as they followed her father through his military career. One of her favorite homes was in Guatemala where the family adopted Paco, a Grey Parrot whom Kim adored. Her love of travel continued throughout her life. She enjoyed her trips to Germany and London, and always looked forward to trips that Terry and she took, travelling throughout the United States to visit friends and family in Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Wisconsin, Tennessee and California. Kim appreciated spending time with friends reminiscing about past events and creating new memories.
Kim graduated from Texas Women’s College in 1973. Not long after, she moved to Houston to continue her education at the University of Houston and earned a Master’s degree in History. After working in the oil patch in the 1980’s, Kim worked as an executive assistant to a prominent attorney where she soon became interested in practicing law. Kim earned her Doctor of Jurisprudence from the University of Houston Law Center in 1994 and enjoyed a long legal career, including almost 20 years at Gibbs & Bruns LLP.
In addition to Paco, there was always a collection of cats and dogs that found a “forever” home with Kim and Terry. Kim participated in many organizations, contributing her talents in leadership roles. To Kim, friends and family were never precious jewels to be hidden in a safe, but to be shared one to another. This was evident in the get-togethers for Bunco, jewelry-making class, trips to Galveston, or hosting a gathering of friends for a painting class. Her giving spirit was evident when she represented her clients through her Pro Bono work with Houston Volunteer Lawyers. Her spiritual journey was a central part of her life and brought her great peace and contentment. She was the very definition of a life well-lived, savored, and shared with family and friends.
Kim is survived by Terry, her husband of 35 years; Brother Reid Ward (Paula), McKinney, TX; Sister-in-Law Roxann Ward, McKinney, TX; Aunt Jo Eddins, Shreveport, LA; Father-in-law Armon Reeves (Delores), Meadows Place, TX; Brother-in-law Mark Reeves (Denise), Tomball, TX; Sisters-in-law Karen Reeves Rainwater (Michael), Frisco, TX and Linda Garcia (Joe), Katy, TX; Nieces & Nephews: Casey Ward Golden (Johnny), Tomball, TX, Zach Ward (Meagan), Frisco, TX, Andrew Ward (Blair), Ft.
