Our beloved husband and father, Kenneth “Drew” Andrew Holt, lost his battle with cancer Sunday morning, September 12, 2021 at his home in Houston, Texas. Drew is survived by his wife, Sarah, and 2 children Gabrielle Marie Holt and Mason Kenneth Holt, mother Arbedella Holt, sister Deborah (Mark) Burke, niece Laura (Nathan) Cody, nephew Logan Burke, grandnieces Demi and Nora Cody, grandnephew Bates Burke and cousins like brothers Vance (Tamara) Woodward and Michael (Susie) Woodward. Drew is preceded in death by his daughter Chloe Kathryn Holt, and father Kenneth Haskell Holt.
Drew was a devoted family man. His greatest joy could be found in time spent with his wife and children. One of his greatest sources of pride is knowing he attended almost every sporting event competed in by his children. He was their number one fan and greatest cheerleader. Drew was an active and engaged parent partner in his children’s raising and education. He invested in understanding the Montessori Education his children received at Bay Area Montessori School, Montessori Country Day School, and School of the Woods Montessori. Drew believed in the power of showing up for his children and was there for every parent meeting, conference, presentation, or performance. He spent his life “All In” for his children.
Drew also had a passion for cars and music. When he most wanted to express his feelings, he would use the perfect song to communicate how he felt. Drew also had a love for geology and great respect for history and the military. His greatest dislike was the post office.
Drew enjoyed participating in sports and then watching his children compete. He was a member of multiple work and church softball teams, flag football teams, baseball and football teams. He had been known to beat many a player in a game of “horse” even during debilitating cancer treatments. When he couldn’t physically compete, he loved watching golf and ninja warrior competitions with his momma. He was a fierce competitor until his last breath.
Drew held several careers in his life. He worked at Omega Tube, then Seymour Tubing in Seymour, Indiana producing parts for the automotive industry. He was a degreed computer programmer/analyst. He worked in Bealls Distribution in Florida before moving to Bic Graphics, Inc. of Clearwater, Florida.
Drew was like a magnet, drawing people to him with his authentic, engaging spirit. He was a loyal friend and took a genuine interest in the people in his life. Drew was just an all-around, great guy. He will be sorely missed by all the people in his life, but especially his wife and children. Family Feud/Cards Against Humanity/Uno game night will forever have a void with his passing.
Drew’s essence is woven into our life’s tapestry, making us all more colorful and stronger for his influence in our lives. We will miss him forever.
Drew endured 4 years of grueling cancer treatments. He was always moved by children who were able to survive cancer treatment and in awe of St. Jude’s Hospital’s dedication to children and families. In lieu of flowers, we encourage donations to St. Jude’s Research Hospital. This charity is the best honoring of his cancer battle and advocacy for children. As all things with Drew, he found and shared inspiration with music. The song “I’ll Find You” by Lecrae and Tori Kelly was one that was played daily during treatment stages of Drew’s cancer journey. Here is the music link to the song that speaks to his heart about the cancer battle and St. Jude’s, followed by the charity link for St. Jude’s Hospital:
