With hearts full of sorrow, we share the passing of Kelly Chasney, who left us on April 4, 2025, at the age of 54. To know Kelly was to know kindness, warmth, and genuine goodness. His gentle nature and compassionate spirit left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of meeting him.
Kelly was incredibly charming. With his bright blue eyes and easygoing manner, he could strike up a conversation with anyone. He had a gift for connection—people instantly felt at ease around him. He was gentle, kind, and deeply empathetic, truly feeling the joys and struggles of others as though they were his own. His love was never loud, but it was constant and sincere, quietly wrapping itself around the people he cared for.
He cherished his family above all else. Some of his favorite memories were rooted in time spent in Michigan, especially at his beloved grandparents' cottage in Caseville. He loved to reminisce about those summers—about the laughter, the simple pleasures, and the comfort of being surrounded by loved ones.
Kelly proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. After his tour in the Persian Gulf War, he often spoke less about the hardship and more about the Iraqi children he met. True to his nature, his heart was drawn to their struggles. He found joy in bringing smiles to their faces, even in the midst of chaos. That was Kelly—always finding light and always wanting to share it.
In 2009, Kelly turned his love of animals into a thriving business in New Hampshire: Groomingdales, a dog grooming shop that became a beloved local fixture. With care and dedication, he served over 900 pets, building trust and loyalty not only with animals but with their humans, too. It was a venture he poured his heart into and was deeply proud of.
Kelly is preceded in death by his beloved Nanny and Grandpa Chasney; his stepfather, Robert Mock; and his nephew, Elijah Knight. He is survived by his mother, Cynthia Mock; his father, Jeffrey Chasney; his brother, Bradford Chasney; and his sisters, Courtney Knight, Jennifer Mock, and Alexis Schindel. He also leaves behind friends, extended family, and kindred spirits who were touched by his soul.
Though our hearts are heavy with his loss, we are filled with gratitude for the time we had. Kelly lived a life of quiet impact, deep feeling, and sincere love. He will be missed beyond words, but his spirit will continue to ripple through every story shared, every life he touched, and every smile he sparked.
