Kay Moore, age 73, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2017 in Houston, Texas. Kay was born on December 16, 1943 to Col. Donald Everett and Carole Jean Barnes Hunt in Dallas, Texas. She graduated from St. Joseph’s High School in South Berwick, Maine. After high school, she attended Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas. On May 13, 1967, she married Perry Cox. She and Perry had two children, Shannon and Jamie. They divorced in 1974. She married Larry J. Moore on August 18th, 1976, and she and Larry had a daughter, Sara. They divorced in 1988. Kay ran a successful shoe store, “Footprints”, in Spring, Texas from 1980 to 1987. In 1990, she returned to college at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas and was one semester away from graduating. In the last part of her life, she fought several illnesses including a brain tumor, kidney cancer, several strokes, and a broken hip. With each trial, she would confidently declare that, “God is good; all the time!”
She is preceded in death by her parents, Col. Donald Everett Hunt, Sr. and Carole Barnes Hunt, and her son, James Philip Cox. She leaves behind her daughter Shannon Carole Blane and her husband Michael of Houston, Texas; daughter Sara Elizabeth Lewis and her husband Rick of Montgomery, Texas; grand-children Stephen McKenzie Blane, Andrew James Blane and wife Taylor, Alexis Rachelle Blane, Ryan Matthew Blane, Joey Elizabeth Lewis, Anzley Jennifer Lewis, Ricki Morgan Lewis; great-grandchildren Landyn Laurell Blane and Hunter James Blane; sister Cyndy Gruemmer and family (Stacy Michelle Gruemmer, Megan Hunt Gruemmer Bower and husband Brian, Holly Kay Knowles and her husband George, and Lorie McClinin and husband Michael); brother Donald Everett “Don” Hunt, Jr. and family (Kelley Anne Jarvis and husband Scott, Erin Brown and husband Weston, and Donald Everett “Rhett” Hunt, III and wife Aditi); and several grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, January 16, 2017 at the American Heritage Funeral Home, 10710 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038 with Pastor George Oberdorf officiating.
