Kathylean Rollins Hutto was born in the summer of 1944. She graduated to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 25, 2023, in Houston, TX, at the age of 78. Kathy was one of five children born to G.B. and Agnes Rollins.
At a young age, Kathy became a mother of two beautiful boys, Craig and Lee Ducrepont. They were her greatest joy. They were both born with a rare genetic disorder, and she poured her life and love into tending to their every need. They lived beyond their life expectancy and passed away in their early 20s. Heartbroken, she found comfort in continuing to pour love into others.
Kathylean married the love of her life, Angus Hutto, Jr. on February 14, 2000. Junior lived to soak in all the attention she lavished on him. While he worked, she busied herself caring for their home, making sure he always had home cooked meals along with freshly starched jeans and shirts every day. Their life together was her pride and joy. In so many relationships, Kathy’s fulfillment came when those she loved received the spotlight. Their accomplishments were her greatest badge of honor.
One of Kathy’s favorite ways to show love was through food. She specialized in Cajun cooking, but we all know everything she made “turned to gold.” Her family looked forward every year to feasting on the dishes and desserts she’d bring for the holidays. Kathy loved listening to old gospel music. Her favorite hymns were “Because He Lives,” and “Stroll over Heaven.” She enjoyed spending time with her beloved family and playing games together, setting up others to enjoy the wins at dominos and cards. If she gave you one of her hand-crocheted blankets, you really knew you had her heart.
After Junior’s passing in 2021, Kathy overcame grief with the encouragement and support of her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Lisa and Frank Dziedzic, and their children. Having to regain strength after her own health struggles, she worked hard to walk and breathe again without the help of oxygen. Through every obstacle, she continued to give glory to God for her progress. As she recovered, she developed a special bond with many of her younger nieces and nephews, especially twins Joshua and Isaiah Dziedzic. In her latter days, she was able to enjoy several family road trips. The one to Tennessee was her favorite.
Kathylean is preceded in death by her husband Junior Hutto, sons Craig and Lee Ducrepont, parents G.B. and Agnes Rollins, and brother John “Benny” Rollins, Sr. She is survived by her sister Patsy Neece, brothers George (Donna) and Michael (Connie) Rollins, stepdaughter Amanda Hutto, stepson Dell Hutto, grandchildren Cody, Bailey, Jaycee, Sophia, Jaxon, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Serving as pallbearers for the service are Justin Bedford, Jonathan Dziedzic, Nick Dziedzic, Joe Calvert, Frank Dziedzic, Tommy Bedford, Isaiah Dziedzic and Joshua Dziedzic.
A celebration of Kathy’s life is planned for Thursday, March 30 at 1:00 pm at Brookside Funeral Home in Houston, Texas, with Reverends Justin and Rachael Bedford officiating. Visitation will be from 12pm – 1pm. A graveside will follow at approximately 2pm.
