Kathy Jean Dickinson Harris, 61, won her victory over ovarian cancer on Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at her home in Missouri City, Texas. “O’ death where is thy victory?” Not here. She is in Heaven now with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Kathy was born on May 30, 1949 to Shirley and E.J. “Pete” Dickinson in Norman, Oklahoma. On July 25, 1970, she married Ted Harris in Fort Worth, Texas and this summer, the couple joyfully celebrated their 40th Anniversary. They were members of Grace Presbyterian Church in Houston and former Sunday School teachers.
She attended LSU 1 year and TCU 3 years where she was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. She graduated from TCU in 1971. She was a devoted Christian mother and coach’s wife. She excelled in every task she undertook and was highly regarded as a teacher and employee. A gifted artist, musician, photographer, dancer and decorator was she. Her most outstanding trait was her ability to draw people to her with her amazing smile and thoughtfulness. Yes, she did win her battle!
She is survived by her husband Ted Harris, her father E.J. Pete Dickinson of Sugar Land, her daughter Jennifer Tiedt of Katy, husband Chad and grandsons Mason and Taylor, and son Jeff Harris of Spring, wife Lisa and grandson Kyle, and her sister Jan Booth of Pendleton, Oregon and husband Michael. She was preceded in death by her mother Shirley Pannell Dickinson.
A private burial service will be held on Thursday, and a Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 4 p.m. at Grace Presbyterian Church in Houston. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to M.D. Anderson’s Sprint for Life Walk through www.firstgiving.com/kathyharris2011 website or mailed to Jennifer Tiedt at 26006 Sebey Ridge Lane, Katy, TX 77494.
