Kathryn Arlene Moore was born April 22, 1941, to the union of Ada Lee Willis and Albert Moore in Houston Texas. KATHRYN affectionately known as Minister Brown, Ms. Brown, Mama Kat, Grandma and Aunt Kat to all those that knew and loved her. As a native Houstonian, Kathryn Accepted Christ at the very early age of 5 and was baptized by the late T.R. Roberts of Peaceful Rest Baptist Church.
In 1967, KATHRYN married J.D. Walker and to that union she bore one child James D. Walker II. In 1980, she married Mr. Willie Roberts Jr of Ballinger, TX. In 1997, she married the love of her life Curtis Joseph Brown who according to her was a love like no other.
In 1974, KATHRYN graduated from Houston Community College with a certificate in Vocational Nursing and worked at Ben Taub Hospital until her next job. In 1985, she became re-employed by The Department of Veterans Affairs as a Medical Records Technician until she retired in 2008 to enjoy her golden years. In her spare time, she volunteered at the Houston Read Commission. Founded in Houston by Mrs. Barbara Bush. Kathryn also completed many hours of community service in the city of Houston serving as an election poll worker for many elections throughout the years and working with the homeless community.
Throughout her years, KATHRYN loved the Lord more than anything else in life. KATHRYN’s church affiliations are Fourth Missionary Baptist Church for 26 years, St Agnes Missionary Baptist Church for 13 years, Lakewood Church for 9 years. At these churches she served in many church activities such as singing in the choir, volunteering, and missionary work by helping wherever she could and by telling people the GOODNESS OF GOD. During her retirement years, KATHRYN was called to preach the word of God in January 2005. KATHRYN attended the Institute for Teaching Gods Word – Seminary of Theology and Divinity Graduating in 2009 with her Bachelor of Arts. KATHRYN Went on to obtain her Master of Arts in Christian Counseling in 2011, Doctor of Philosophy in Theology in 2012 and Doctor of Divinity in 2013, all obtained from Cornerstone University. KATHRYN also served as a Certified Christian Marriage Counselor with her church until 2017.
KATHRYN is proceeded in death by her parents Albert Moore and Ada Lee Douglas, her Husband Curtis Joseph Brown, Brother Eddie Douglas, Sister Laura B. Mills, Aunt Laura B. Phifer and Special Sisters Irene Banion and Yola Washington. KATHRYN leaves to cherish her memory, her Son Mr. James Douglas Walker II, his Wife Holli. Two Granddaughters Kathryn Elizabeth Renee Walker and Jamison Danielle Walker, Sister in love Joyce Randle, Brother in law Albert Brown (Dorothy), Brother in law Joseph Brown, special sisters Gloria Jones and Reasa Sanders, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
