Kathleen Reed, 93, departed this life on Monday, January 22, 2024 with her loved ones by her side. She was born in Houston, Texas on February 25, 1930 to the late Garrett Terpstra, and Marie DeVries Terpstra.
She was united in holy matrimony to Cleveland Dean Reed in January of 1951. This union was blessed with 6 children. Cleveland Reed preceded her death on December 11, 1965.
Kathleen Reed and her late husband opened and ran Reed’s Grocery Store in Houston, Texas. She later worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company where she retired in 1988. After retirement, she spent many hours volunteering at Nearly New in Conroe, Texas where she made life long friends.
Kathleen Reed was an active member of Mims Baptist Church where she attended weekly services and Bible Study. She was known for sending heartfelt cards to friends and family on every special occasion. Kathleen enjoyed collecting stamps, gardening, and playing card games with her loved ones and friends. She will be remembered for her giving heart, her strength through adversity, and her unwavering love for the Lord.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Kathleen Nitschman, Becky Caesar, Judy Turrigiano, Donice Farrell, Cleveland Reed, and Larry Reed; sons-in-law, Thomas Nitschman, Jimmy Caesar, and David Turrigiano; daughters-in-law Karen Reed and Bing Reed; 14 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; sister Betty Miller and brother Steve Terpstra; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Serving as pallbearers are, Brian Thomas, BJ Caesar, Joe Turrigiano, Bryen Turrigiano, Tyler Farrell, and
Larry Reed. Serving as honorary pallbearers are, Brian Turrigiano, and Bryson Miller.
The viewing will be held at Mims Baptist Church on January 30, 2024 at 10:00 am followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am. The graveside service will follow at Brookside cemetery at 3:30 pm.
