Katherine Emily Pritchett born September 10, 1922 in Lottie Louisiana passed away August 19, 2016 while in the loving care at The Forum in Memorial Woods, Houston, Texas. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rose Guedry, father Clarence Babin, stepfather John Guedry and her Husband of 50 years, O. D. Pritchett. Katherine and O.D. were members of First Methodist Church Houston and shared their Christian faith and love of Jesus Christ while supporting their church in many ways during their life.
After graduation from high school in Opelousas, Louisiana she moved to Houston to study nursing at the University of Houston and Methodist Hospital. She acquired her R.N. degree in 1944 and began her nursing career at the hospital. After interning for several years she took a nursing position with Dr. Bernard Farfel and continued in this private practice capacity until retiring. Katherine met her future husband, O. D. Pritchett in 1949 and they were married after a long courtship. She loved to travel and often accompanied her husband on overseas business trips for his company Pritchett Engineering. She always supported her husband’s school, Texas A&M University, and as a tribute to him gave to the school a scholarship fund to help finance the education for promising engineering students. Katherine is survived by friends and family which includes many cousins who loved her and comforted her in her last days on this Earth.
The family wishes to thank The Forum at Memorial woods and particularly the loving care from Alba Calzada and Rosie Maldonado who treated her with kindness and thoughtfulness like she was one of their family members.
Services will be conducted at 2 pm on Wednesday August 24, 2016, at Forest Park Lawndale. A visitation for family and friends will be at 1 pm prior to the service.
