Karnig Ekizian passed away on April 12, 2025 at the age of 82. He was of Armenian origin and born in Jerusalem. He later moved with his family to Amman, Jordan, where he grew up. Karnig and his family emigrated to the United States in 1960. He was awarded Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from New Jersey Institute of Technology in 1966 and 1970, respectively. He earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Columbia University in 1969. He spent most of his professional career working as an international petroleum product trader, initially for Gulf Oil Corporation and, later, for Global Petroleum Corporation, until his retirement in 2012. Karnig enjoyed serving on the altar and singing in the choir of the Armenian Orthodox Church. He also enjoyed investing, sightseeing, long-distance running, hiking, and sailing. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Diana Ekizian (nee Dermenjian), his two children, David Ekizian and Michael Ekizian, MD, and two grandchildren, Mark and Arabelle Ekizian. He is also survived by his younger brother, Gregory Ekizian, and brother-in-law, Charles Dermenjian and wife, Joyce Dermenjian. The family would like to thank the clinical staff of Houston Methodist Hospital, HCA North Cypress Hospital, West Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation, The Buckingham skilled nursing facility, Copperfield Nursing and Rehabilitation, Phoenix Family Healthcare, NeuroCare Plus, and City of Houston EMS, all of whom provided superb care for Karnig in his final year of life.
